Kids in the Kitchen

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to let your children be in charge of some of the cooking. Not only can it be empowering and great for their self esteem, but for once you will get to enjoy some tasty treats in the end. This month’s recipe, Banna-Berry Pizza, is easy to make and tastes great.

Banana-Berry Pizza

  • 1 package fudge brownie mix
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 8oz. package cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1 sliced banana
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  1. Combine the brownie mix, water, oil and egg until well blended. Spread into a greased 12-inch pizza or heart-shaped pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  2. Beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla until combined. Spread over the brownie crust. Bake 15 minutes longer until the topping is set. Cool for at least 20 minutes.
  3. Just before serving, arrange strawberries and bananas over topping.
  4. Melt chocolate chips by microwaving for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Add a small amount of vegetable oil if necessary and drizzle over fruit.
