Congratulations to Mr. Mike McNeil on being selected as the Gulf Coast Family Teacher of the Month. Affectionately known as “Coach Mike” by the Wellington School families, Mike has been teaching P.E. for over fourteen years now. Coach Mike teaches P.E. to all the Wellington School students, Pre-K through Middle School, and he also drives a bus and coaches the school’s intramural league.

“Coach Mike is not only a good teacher, but he is also a very passionate teacher,” Head Master Linda Mileski told us. “Mike believes in what he is doing, he believes in our kids and he truly cares about all of them.” Throughout the last decade and a half, Coach Mike has had a tremendous impact on the lives of his students and their families. Here is what some of them had to say about their favorite coach:

All my kids love Coach Mike because he has a winning spirit.
- Kathleen

Coach Mike has been an enthusiastic, motivating role model for both of my boys. He encourages kids to do their best and be the best they can be.
- Jill

Over the last 14 years, Coach Mike has been instrumental in shaping my children into well-rounded young men. He stands out as one of my college-aged son’s finest mentors.
- Nancy

He had such patience to teach my daughter to dribble and started her love of basketball. Thanks, Coach Mike!
- Allyson

Coach Mike inspires students to set goals and encourages them to reach their goals.
- Lori

Coach Mike has a way of pushing the child just enough in a positive way that brings out their athletic ability
- Wendy
