Congratulations to the Seminole Shooting Stars soccer team on being selected as the Joto’s March Top Team of the Month. On Saturday, February 12, 2011, the Seminole Shooting Stars Soccer (SSS) Under 10 Competitive Team finished their regular season schedule undefeated by beating West Florida Premier Soccer Club with a score of 6-4. The team closed out the regular season with a 12-0-1(tie) record. The Seminole Shooting Stars were the only undefeated team in the USA U10B Central Division and the team’s record should earn them a USA Division 1 seeding, the most competitive division, for next season.

“I am so incredibly proud of this team,” commented Coach Chris Outlaw. “The boys and girls trained hard and played hard all season long. We played the best teams in the Tampa Bay area. We played bigger teams; we played faster teams, but in the end we had the determination and skill to win. Having an undefeated season is a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of the entire team.”

“We are very fortunate to have a great soccer community in the Tampa Bay area,” one of the league directors told us. “We are proud to support the families of Seminole and surrounding cities. We have the luxury of utilizing a great facility at the Seminole Recreation Center, not to mention the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing kids and families in all of Tampa Bay!”

The team’s progress in the league and tournaments this past season are evidence of the hard work all the boys and coaches have put in over the past couple of years. They continue to develop as players and as a team, and they hope to continue to improve going into the spring season.

Seminole Shooting Stars soccer is dedicated to youth soccer and the U10 Competitive Team is one of the elite soccer clubs in the Tampa Bay area. Players are selected based on their skills, hard work and commitment to the team. Seminole Shooting Stars Competitive is committed to promoting youth soccer and encouraging good sportsmanship, while at the same time enhancing the level of play for youth soccer players. Every month Gulf Coast Family and Joto’s Pizza will select a Top Team of the Month from Pinellas County to be honored in the paper and on our website. The team will also receive special recognition from Joto’s Pizza and will receive a Joto’s pizza party. The categories for nomination are wide and varied. A team might have excelled in competition at any level in junior, youth or senior competition, or perhaps have a unique story to tell that is worthy of recognition. The winning team might not be the one that wins a tournament or a championship. It might be a team that has overcome adversity or demonstrated character and values beyond the winning and losing of a ballgame.
