Rizzotto’s Italian Villa
7155 Seminole Blvd.
Although native New Yorker Mark Rizzotto is a first generation restaurant owner, one bite of his Sicilian pizza, and you would swear his little Italian Villa eatery has been in the heart of New York City for generations. In fact, he has been in business for over a decade, and you can taste it in his tradition-steeped menu.
Because it was a house specialty, we couldn’t pass up the garlic knots, and to be honest, I think I could live on those and the antipasti salad that joined them. Crispy iceberg lettuce with roasted peppers and a variety of antipasti toppings served with house-made dressing made the perfect counterpoint to the warm, soft rolls drenched in butter and fresh garlic. The tomato sauce served with the rolls was delicious, and they would’ve been just as perfect served solo.
Our “little” family made lunch and lunch the next day of the spinach white pizza our girl requested, and as somewhat of a white pizza connoisseur, she pronounced it to be the best pizza she’d ever eaten. Hi praise from our middle foodie! We also ordered a sicilian pizza with pepperoni, bacon, sausage... well, the works!
Now, we’re a family who may (don’t tell on us) skip the crust if we don’t have a sauce to drench it in. But we’ve gotta tell you, no one skipped Mark’s crust. Although it was thick, it was the perfect balance of gooey toppings, warm dough-y center, and crispy bottom layer. As the hungry dad put it, even though it was a deep dish style crust, it managed to be light in texture.
Rizzotto’s Italian Villa has just the feel of the corner eatery in the big city, right in the heart of Largo. In addition to offering in-house dining, they cater as well. Next time you’ve got a craving for a delicious Italian meal, Mark and his crew will take good care of you - be sure to order the garlic knots!
